About
the Coulter Lake experience...
You'll enjoy
a "once in a lifetime" unique western experience
that goes well beyond expectations. Distinctive seasonal programs
for all ages are provided with passion, creating one-of-a-kind
memories for everyone.
Horseback riding is
the heart of Coulter Lake...
Our
excellent string of mountain trail horses match each guest’s
abilities. Whether you've ridden your whole life, or never ridden
before, we've got just the right horse for you. Most guests enjoy
the same horse throughout their stay. And, if you’d
like extra guidance, that’s no problem, instruction is all
part of our program.
With riding available every day except Sunday,
the avid rider has the opportunity to spend many an hour in the
saddle. Rides include an all-day lunch ride
going up into high country, a breakfast ride or an afternoon/evening
cookout ride on 10,000 foot Coulter Mesa.
Our trails cover miles of White River National
Forest, so you'll enjoy different scenery on each ride. Guests soon
discover that Coulter Lake Guest Ranch is in the midst of some of
the most beautiful country imaginable.
Wranglers lead all rides to assist you in discovering
Colorado back country. Miles of uninhabited wilderness
make it easy to forget everyday problems and rejuvenate your soul.
At Coulter Lake, each month has its charm. Spring
and fall seasons are beautiful with temperatures usually in the 70s
during the day and 40s at night. Spring brings fresh wildflowers
and fall finds our aspen trees turning to gold. Summer temperatures
range from the mid 70s to 80s during the day and in the 40s to 50s
at night. Wildflowers continue to show during the whole summer.
Who comes to enjoy Coulter Lake?
Family members of all ages - singles, single parents,
parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren - will all enjoy
our ranch vacation. Children age 6 who can control their own horse
may ride on most regular trails with our wranglers. Programs are
also available for the under 6 crowd as well.
Adults and young people alike often make lasting friendships and
return again with their special group. We have a special way of bringing
families and friends together. It is truly a magical place for people
of all ages and from all walks of life.
