Western Horsemanship 101 (10 and over)

5 Days/4 Nights
June 16–20, 2008

Western Horsemanship 101 is perfect for you, if you’re looking to learn about western style riding, or just need to refresh your memory. You'll spend a week in the mountains learning the basics of western style riding, horse behavior and horse care.

Western Horsemanship 101 provides both hands on and “classroom” sessions. Remember our classroom is the incredible White River National Forest in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. You'll work with our head wrangler, hear from our veterinarian, and see our farrier in action to learn about shoeing a horse. This course is ideal for parents and children 10 years and older to spend true quality time together, while learning about these magnificent animals.

Western Horsemanship 101 includes daily rides into the mountains where you can enjoy the beauty that is Colorado. You'll ride through mountain meadows as they come alive after the long winter. View aspen groves, valleys, rushing streams, beaver ponds and wildlife like mule deer, elk, eagles, hawks, and much more. No riding experience required, as rides will be tailored to your capabilities. Sign up now for this unique opportunity.

All rides are tailored to our guests, with most being between two and two and a half hours. All day rides are an option as well.

Grownups Getaway provides an “all you can eat” menu, tailored to adult tastes. This includes made to order breakfasts, outdoor grilled lunches, and sumptuous dinners including dishes such as spicy chicken pesto over linguini, steaks, and fish Provencal.

Grownups Getaway guests can include one off-site activity at no additional cost! You can choose from a white water raft trip on the Colorado River, fly fishing lessons at the ranch, a massage at the hot springs, a round of golf at the Rifle Creek Golf Course, or a nearby winery tour.

Ladies Roundup

5 Days/4 Nights
September 8–12, 2008

Ladies Roundup will allow you, with a program tailored for women, to experience a remarkable time in the Rockies. We've put together a package you won't want to miss. After you've settled in to your cabin, we'll review the activities and introduce you to your horse for the week. You'll have the opportunity to help our head wrangler care for your horse while you're with us.

Rides during Ladies Roundup are through incredible mountain valleys, meadows, and aspen groves as the leaves begin to turn. Ride twice a day if you like. The food will be unique and we'll have a wine tasting one evening to sample wines from Colorado vineyards just 50 miles from the ranch.

Your toughest decision during Ladies Roundup will be between an afternoon ride, a massage, fly-fishing lessons, hiking, or other unique possibilities. We're also working on a few surprises for the week—so check back for further details.

So tell a friend or come with a group, but make your reservations today. Come share all that is for ladies at Coulter Lake Guest Ranch.
